Thema: „Visual interfaces for concordance reading: Insights from the development and integration of the FlexiConc Python library“

Concordance reading is a fundamental technique in corpus linguistics and related disciplines. It requires well-designed tools to support common concordance-reading operations, both on the backend and frontend. As part of our “Reading Concordances in the 21st Century” (RC21) project, we have developed FlexiConc, a Python library for working with concordances. Our experience integrating this library into frontends has highlighted the need for standardization in various aspects. In this talk, I present our experience, compare it with other tools’ approaches to web-based concordance interfaces, and outline future directions for the development of FlexiConc and its integrations.
